The swell is very inconsistent, rainy season (May-November) being the most unreliable. The winter months are also hit-or miss. There are serious rip tides and currents, all year round. First-time surfers can learn in the white wash year round.

It’s super strong, super powerful, and you really need to have skillz to surf here. Also, the season only goes from December to Feb.. then it gets scary. (Rainy season- Giant trees and tons of rubbish get washed ashore). Even the locals won’t go in.
