<p><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;">New Zealand is sometimes overlooked when it comes to surfing destinations. <p><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;">Piha is located just west of Auckland, at about an hour drive away from the country&#8217;s capital city. It is a small and quiet surf town that is popular amongst kiwis for a little beach getaway. Piha is a great and wide surfing beach that gets good waves from the Tasman Sea throughout the year.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2><span style="font-size: 18pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><strong>Raglan</strong></span></h2>
<figure id="attachment_1885" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-1885" style="width: 1490px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-1885" src="https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/tim-marshall-EEv8cy3sRO8-unsplash-e1621614932402.jpg" alt="Raglan surf whale bay" width="1500" height="844" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-1885" class="wp-caption-text">Photo by Tim Marshall</figcaption></figure>

<p><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 14pt;">Raglan is the surfing capital of New Zealand with some of the best waves and surf spots in the country located right around this charming town. Manu Bay is the most famous surf spot in Raglan, mostly due to its appearance in Endless Summer, a cult surf movie that aired back in 1966. Raglan became a real surfing hub but always kept its laidback vibe and tranquility.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2><span style="font-size: 18pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><strong>Mount Maunganui</strong></span></h2>
<p><img decoding="async" class="alignnone wp-image-5371" src="https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/koon-chakhatrakan-p2sRX5ww7DE-unsplash-300x200.jpg" alt="Mount Maunganui New Zealand" width="819" height="546" srcset="https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/koon-chakhatrakan-p2sRX5ww7DE-unsplash-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/koon-chakhatrakan-p2sRX5ww7DE-unsplash-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/koon-chakhatrakan-p2sRX5ww7DE-unsplash-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/koon-chakhatrakan-p2sRX5ww7DE-unsplash-830x553.jpg 830w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/koon-chakhatrakan-p2sRX5ww7DE-unsplash-230x153.jpg 230w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/koon-chakhatrakan-p2sRX5ww7DE-unsplash-350x233.jpg 350w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/koon-chakhatrakan-p2sRX5ww7DE-unsplash-480x320.jpg 480w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/koon-chakhatrakan-p2sRX5ww7DE-unsplash.jpg 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;">Also located on North Island, Mount Maunganui is a very popular holiday destination for Kiwis due to its beautiful beach and charming town. As far as surfing goes, Mount Maunganui is not as consistent as the west side of New Zealand, but in summer, some northern swells will turn the whole beach to life and waves do get pretty decent.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2><span style="font-size: 18pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><strong>Kaikoura</strong></span></h2>
<figure id="attachment_5372" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-5372" style="width: 809px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class=" wp-image-5372" src="https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/tim-marshall-vn59e-3J2oo-unsplash-300x200.jpg" alt="Kaikoura surf New Zealand" width="819" height="546" srcset="https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/tim-marshall-vn59e-3J2oo-unsplash-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/tim-marshall-vn59e-3J2oo-unsplash-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/tim-marshall-vn59e-3J2oo-unsplash-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/tim-marshall-vn59e-3J2oo-unsplash-830x553.jpg 830w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/tim-marshall-vn59e-3J2oo-unsplash-230x153.jpg 230w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/tim-marshall-vn59e-3J2oo-unsplash-350x233.jpg 350w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/tim-marshall-vn59e-3J2oo-unsplash-480x320.jpg 480w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/tim-marshall-vn59e-3J2oo-unsplash.jpg 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-5372" class="wp-caption-text">Photo by Tim Marshall</figcaption></figure>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;">Kaikoura is on New Zealand&#8217;s South Island, about two hours north of Christchurch. It is one of the best place to surf on the South Island with consistent swells coming from the south in winter and from the north in summer. Kaikoura is a small and charming surf town with stunning views and wildlife that will make your surf trip a very special one.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2><span style="font-size: 18pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;"><strong>Shipwreck Bay</strong></span></h2>
<figure id="attachment_5374" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-5374" style="width: 811px" class="wp-caption alignnone"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="wp-image-5374 " src="https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/IMG_20191003_144004-e1633124354897-300x175.jpg" alt="Shipwreck Bay, Ahipara, New Zealand" width="821" height="479" srcset="https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/IMG_20191003_144004-e1633124354897-300x175.jpg 300w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/IMG_20191003_144004-e1633124354897-768x449.jpg 768w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/IMG_20191003_144004-e1633124354897-830x485.jpg 830w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/IMG_20191003_144004-e1633124354897-230x134.jpg 230w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/IMG_20191003_144004-e1633124354897-350x205.jpg 350w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/IMG_20191003_144004-e1633124354897-480x281.jpg 480w, https://www.mywavefinder.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/IMG_20191003_144004-e1633124354897.jpg 960w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 821px) 100vw, 821px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-5374" class="wp-caption-text">Photo by Gabriel Drouin</figcaption></figure>
<p><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;">Located at the very end of Ninety Mile Beach, in Ahipara, Shipwreck Bay is a beautiful left-hand point break that is one of New Zealand&#8217;s best waves. On a decent south westerly swell, the bay turns into a beautiful series of long, endless waves rolling all the way from the point to the beach.</span></p>
