Summary

While some may think most of the surfing exploration has been done and there are no more unexplored territories, the Andaman Islands are here to prove us wrong…

This little archipelago located in the Bay of Bengal receives its share of decent waves but is still not visited by many surfing tourists due to its short surfing season and difficult access to the islands as well as the surf spots.

Therefore, whoever makes the trip from March to May will be rewarded with some incredible uncrowded surf in a pure and raw paradise.

The best surf is located on Little Andaman, south of Andaman Islands and it is where you will find Kumari Point, the best wave in the area.

There are a few surfing expedition companies running charter boats from Port Blair which is probably the best option to make the best of your surf trip in the Andaman Islands.

Most surf spots in Andaman Islands are reef breaks. However most of those waves are beginner-friendly with pretty forgiving reefs.

Where to stay in Andaman Islands

Getting there

All flights to Port Blair depart from mainland India at either Kolkota, Delhi or Chennai airports. To get to the breaks, you want to either jump on a charter boat at Port Blair or make your way to the west coast where most waves are located.

Safety/things to know

-There are still a few local tribes with questionable behaviors with strangers who don’t respect them. Be mindful.
